Autumn Update

Well it’s been a while since our last news post, things are finally back on track since we started to come back together when Covid restrictions eased. We are now back in our old rehearsal room at The Myle Cross Centre which has been refurbished so it’s even better than before. We’ve had a couple of engagements to get us back into the swing and we’re now working towards our Christmas Program. We are still being hit by the odd Covid positive test so rehearsals and engagements can still be a bit challenging but all in...

Today we sat down together as a band for the first time in 14 months and played music! We were outside and there had to be no more than 30 of us but it was great to be playing again. We look forward to more outdoor rehearsals and then being able to go back inside again, we don’t have any engagements booked in yet but we hope to be back on track very soon.

Sad News – Drum Major John Gooding

Posted by on May 23, 2021 in Latest News | Comments Off on Sad News – Drum Major John Gooding

It’s with great sadness that today we heard the news that our Drum Major John Gooding has passed away after an illness. John was always a great friend to the band and many of our musicians. A few years ago after a lot of deliberation we wanted to do more high profile engagements, to do this we decided to become a marching band. We were then booked to do Lincolnshire Show 2016, something the band has always wanted to do. Some of the band are from military backgrounds and some had marched before but our first few Sunday morning...

With the Government roadmap now planned out the band committee has been busy in the background preparing for our hopeful return to music. We are keeping everything crossed that the band can start rehearsing again over the next few months in some way, this could have to be outside but everyone is very keen to get back to it! Please keep watching out social media pages and the website for further updates.

Merry Christmas

Posted by on Dec 29, 2020 in Latest News | Comments Off on Merry Christmas

Well it’s been the strangest year the band has ever experienced, not one concert or performance carried out all year thanks to the pandemic. However, the band has managed to keep things going by producing several online productions and we’ve tried to keep in touch with each other by holding weekly zoom meetings/quiz nights on Thursday’s which would normally be our rehearsal nights. We were also able to send Ryan and Kelly, two of our cornet players to Lincoln Castle on Remembrance Sunday to play The Last Post on the castle...

The Band and Coronavirus

Posted by on Jul 23, 2020 in Latest News | Comments Off on The Band and Coronavirus

With the current government restrictions in place we have unfortunately been unable to meet to rehearse since March, we have found ourselves cancelling or postponing all of our engagements/booking this year up to now. Everyone is frustrated with the current situation and nobody expected the restrictions to go on this long. We would just like to assure our followers that as soon as it’s declared safe for us to be back together we will be, stronger than ever.

The Band is all back safe and sound from our trip to Ypres over the Remembrance period. We were extremely humbled by the occasion but at the same time immensely proud to have the opportunity to perform at such an event. For everyone in the band, this has been a trip that we will never forget! Our thanks to all of the friends of the band who came and helped us out both musically and logistically, we could not have done it without you! Thanks also to the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service Ceremonial Unit for inviting us to the event and...

The band was present in London on Sunday and took part in the annual Firefighters Memorial Parade around St Paul’s Cathedral area of the capital. This year LFRCB was the lead band but we had help from our friends from Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Ceremonial Unit, The West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service Band and The Band of The West Midlands Fire Service. The large massed band formed up at the Firefighters Memorial outside St Paul’s Cathedral marching off playing Lincolnshire Poacher. We progressed through the...

From Remembrance weekend in November up to Christmas is always the busiest time for the band and this year has certainly been no exception!
