The band was present in London on Sunday and took part in the annual Firefighters Memorial Parade around St Paul’s Cathedral area of the capital. This year LFRCB was the lead band but we had help from our friends from Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Ceremonial Unit, The West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service Band and The Band of The West Midlands Fire Service. The large massed band formed up at the Firefighters Memorial outside St Paul’s Cathedral marching off playing Lincolnshire Poacher. We progressed through the streets leading the parade to St Sepulchre’s Church near The Old Bailey where a service was held. After this we lead the parade back to the memorial where another short service was held and wreaths were laid to honour dedicated firefighters of today and those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice serving and protecting the public in times gone passed. The band was very proud to be involved in this event and we look forward to being involved in other massed band engagements in the future.
