From Remembrance weekend in November up to Christmas is always the busiest time for the band and this year has certainly been no exception! We’ve had several Christmas engagements, one of which we supplied music for numerous school choirs as well as playing our own arrangements of many Christmas pieces in Lincoln Cathedral for The LIVES Charity Christmas Concert. We also provided music for Saxilby Christmas Lights Switch On, entertained St Boltophs Church, Saxilby at their Christmas concert, Provided music for Lincoln Inner Wheel Christmas Dinner, Played Carols and other music for Thorney Church Carols by Candlelight and have played many smaller carolling events around the city.

At Lincoln Christmas Market weekend 25 of our friends from our twinning band in Germany (MVD Band) came to see us for a few days, they were hosted by our band members in their own homes and we had a busy time with them.  We all played together outside Lincoln Cathedral for the official opening of the market by The Mayor, we played carols around the market together, we took them for an official Welcome by Our Mayor at The Guildhall with a guided tour, we held a joint concert at St Faith’s Church in The West End for The Festival of Lights Event and on the last evening attended The Pheasantry Brewery for a tour, beer tasting, Christmas Dinner and a party.  We are hoping to plan a special event in 2020 for the 40 year anniversary of our twinning where we shall attend Germany for their wine festival and they will come here again for the market.

2019 looks like another exciting year for LFRCB, keep checking our website to keep up to date, in January our director of music is planning a whole new programme of music for us.
