The band was present in London on Sunday and took part in the annual Firefighters Memorial Parade around St Paul’s Cathedral area of the capital. This year LFRCB was the lead band but we had help from our friends from Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Ceremonial Unit, The West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service Band and The Band of The West Midlands Fire Service. From Remembrance weekend in November up to Christmas is always the busiest time for the band and this year has certainly been no exception! We’ve had several Christmas engagements, one of which we supplied music for numerous school choirs as well as playing our own arrangements of many Christmas pieces in Lincoln Cathedral for The LIVES Charity Christmas Concert. Remembrance Weekend

This years remembrance weekend was extra special due to the 100 year celebrations since the formation of The Royal Air Force and also marking 100 years since the end of World War 1. We held our annual concert of remembrance on Friday the 9th November with all proceeds going to The Royal British Legion. It was a great turnout as always, we had standards present from all the services and our own representative from Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue also carrying a standard. This Sunday 7th October we are holding a charity concert in memory of Adrian Sherratt, one of our saxophone players who sadly passed away earlier this year. The concert will start at 2pm at Windmill Farm, Whisby Road, Lincoln, LN6 3QZ and is free entry with donations collected at the end. All proceed will go to St Barnabas hospice who cared for Adrian so well while he was poorly. We have a fabulous programme of music with some solo pieces being performed from our saxophone section. The band has been incredibly busy this month, we had our first June engagement on 1st June at the Bentley Hotel, South Hykeham for Ermine Lodge Ladies Night, an enjoyable night for guests and the band. For the 3rd year in a row this this year we took part in The Lincolnshire Show, this was preceded by many extra rehearsals at Nettleham HQ on Sunday mornings for marching practice and for several members this was there first time marching. Last Saturday we performed at The Venue, Lincoln with Massed Bands of The Army Cadet Force with cadets from Lincoln, Derby, Wales and Scotland. At the concert there was 70 of us on stage, a huge sound and during the concert our musical directors from each band rotated with some guest conductors also. The day started at 9am at Beckingham Army Camp where we met for morning rehearsal followed by afternoon rehearsals at The Venue with the concert starting at 7.30pm.
